That summer weather is beckoning to us and it is time to get outside and live up these wonderful summer months. Don’t know where to start? We got you covered; here are some of our favorite summer to-dos in Albany, NY:Nothing says summer like a summer blockbuster. Head over to the independently owned and operated Spectrum 8 Theatres at 290 Delaware Avenue in Albany, NY. This small, intimate theatre shows both mainstream and independent films and provides the unique experience of actually getting to enjoy cake and tea during a movie. One of our favorite summertime Albany events is Alive at Five. This free event is held at Albany Riverfront Park at the Corning Preserve Thursdays, June 7 – August 9, 2012 5pm – 8pm. Spectators enjoy music from national, regional and local artists and delicious food from some of the area’s favorite local vendors. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more theatrical try the productions put on by Park Playhouse. You can see the iconic musical Cabaret from July 6 – July 29, 2012 Tuesday through Sunday at 8:00pm in Albany’s Historic Washington Park. Bring a blanket because lawn seating is free. How about trying out some delicious barbecue this summer? Capital Q Smokehouse at 329 Ontario St. Albany, NY has the best barbecue in Albany; try their brisket in their capital Q sauce, with pickled red onions. Mmm mmm.Take some of the Capital Q barbecue to go and spread out a blanket at nearby Ridgefield Park located at 316 Partridge Albany, NY for an impromptu picnic. This park is an urban gem that offers local gardeners the opportunity to grow produce and flowers which make for a lovely atmosphere, they also have a water spray pool for children during the summer months so bring along the kids!We hope you have a great time enjoying the local Albany NY events!
